“Mom, were home!” I yell, while settling down all of our food. “Hi guys, sorry I couldn’t pick you up early, I was busy at work.” She tells us. Oh, right, she was supposed to pick us up early, oh well. “What did you buy?” she asks me. “Let’s see.” I tell her. “I bought a chocolate chip muffin and an iced cappuccino, I bought David a Chocolate chip donut and a fruit juice, I bought you six mini tid bits and, finally, Leah bought us each a cupcake, so four cupcakes.” I hope she’s not mad… “And how much did this happen to cost you?” she asks. “Ten dollars.”
“Well then, everyone dig in!” she yells! Fortunately, she is in a rather pleasant mood.
At about four thirty, my mothers calls us, to tell us to get ready for karate, and that we are living in ten minutes. Like always, I help David into his uniform and tie on his belt. He has an orange belt, which I think is pretty good for a four year old!
At four forty, my mother calls, and tells us its time to leave, I grab a science worksheet, that is due next week, and then we head out the door.
I’m aching to hear Sienna’s DDK. I wonder what she got.
On the way to the karate studio, we pass an unusual road sign. It talks about Derek Smool and how every scientist who is alive, should be hunted down and killed. Hopefully this isn’t true. I wonder why the government hasn’t requested to take down the sign. It just seems so weird to be put up in this neighbourhood. But I guess that request, most certainly, cannot not be made by me. Now that my father is a full time scientist, I take the news and signs like those, a little bit more seriously then I normally would. But I also have to remember, that those words are not aimed directly at me, just the scientist job population as a whole.
Alyssa’s Reviews – We Are Canada by Rikia Saddy
Hi everyone!
Today I’m going to be doing a book review for the fourth book I read this year! It’s called We Are Canada by Rikia Saddy.
Summary (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15959611-we-are-canada?from_choice=false&from_home_module=false):
We Are Canada is a short story of Canada that begins at the end of the last ice age and carries through to the present day. It is an eighty-page telling of our history that challenges three Canadian myths: that the French were a conquered people, that our First Nations were innocent bystanders in the formation of our country, and that Canada only had two founding peoples. According to Rikia Saddy, we’ve been multicultural from the start. An informative, easy read, We Are Canada will change the way you see your country. We can’t be divided, and we can’t be conquered. We are Canada.
Review:
I found this book to be very interesting. I had to read this for school, as well for the Red Maple (Forest of Reading) program that is at my school. I recently posted something ALL ABOUT the Forest Of Reading Program, click here to read it: !
I live in Canada, and I really enjoyed reading the history of Canada, up until the present day. This book was really short, so it only took me about 30-40 minutes to read. It’s slightly over 100 pages, with about 4 sentences per page, along with an illustration.
Overall:
I enjoyed reading this book, and gave it 3.75 out of 5 stars!

Third Sentance Thursday {01/19}
Hosted by: Thatswhatsheread
(Take any book you are reading and flick to a random page. Share the third full sentence from that page with the blogosphere as a “taster” of the book! You can also share your thoughts about the sentence (does it affect the novel? did you like the language used? was it so short that it adds suspense?) It’s a fun, fast way to offer your readers a ‘snapshot’ of a particular book.)
“If I hadn’t spoken to President Snow, this gesture might move me to tears.” -Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, Page 76.
So far, I’m a little bit more then half-way through Catching Fire, and I still CANNOT BELIEVE that I haven’t read this book sooner! I guess my excuse is that, I’m not a big fan of reading hyped up books, BUT STILL!

Middle Grade Monday (01/19)
Hi everyone!
I’m planning exciting posts for febuary, so I don’t have anything to exciting planned for the rest of the month, so I think that I will be catching up on a few weekly memes! If you want to see a FULL LIST of weekly bookish memes, please click the link here: https://readingreadingalldaylong.wordpress.com/2015/01/08/creating-a-blog-weekly-memes/
Today I will be doing my first Middle Grade Monday, hosted by Jordan’s Jewels: https://jordansjewels.wordpress.com/!
Middle Grade Monday is a weekly meme where you spotlight one middle grade book (or series) on, well, Monday! It can be a book (or series) that you’ve read or one that is sitting on your TBR shelf. It’s completely up to you. The point of this meme is to showcase middle grade books that people wouldn’t have sought out otherwise.
I actually just picked up a middle grade book in PERFECT condition at a used book sale, happening at my library! The book is called Savvy by Ingrid Law. It sounded interesting, and I wanted to pick it up, since it was only $1.00! I mean, who could pass up the offer!
Summary (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2133795.Savvy?from_search=true):
For generations, the Beaumont family has harbored a magical secret. They each possess a “savvy” -a special supernatural power that strikes when they turn thirteen. Grandpa Bomba moves mountains, her older brothers create hurricanes and spark electricity . . . and now it’s the eve of Mibs’s big day.As if waiting weren’t hard enough, the family gets scary news two days before Mibs’s birthday: Poppa has been in a terrible accident. Mibs develops the singular mission to get to the hospital and prove that her new power can save her dad. So she sneaks onto a salesman’s bus . . . only to find the bus heading in the opposite direction. Suddenly Mibs finds herself on an unforgettable odyssey that will force her to make sense of growing up-and of other people, who might also have a few secrets hidden just beneath the skin.
I hope you guys enjoyed my first “Middle Grade Monday” post! Did you like reading this weekly meme? Tell me in the comments below!

Winter Wonderland Book Tag!
Hi everyone,
Today I’m going to be doing the Winter Wonderland Book Tag! This tag was created by JackEatsBooks, here’s the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewNyshQH0BI. I was not tagged by anyone, but I really wanted to do it anyways!
Let’s begin!
1. What book is so happy and sweet that it warms your heart?
The book I’m going to chose is, My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick! I forgot to mention in my Most Anticipated reads of 2015, that the companion novel to this book is coming out, and is called The Boy Most Likely To! It’s set to release sometime in June 2015! I’m SO excited!
2. What is your favorite book with a white cover?
My favourite book with a white cover is Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone! I’m not from the UK, but I have the UK editions, and they are so beautiful!
3. You’re sitting in a nice comfy chair, wearing a onesie, with a lovely warm hot chocolate but what MONSTER read are you reading?
Probably, one of the HUGE Harry Potter books, which I hope to tackle this winter!
4. It started snowing so you decided to have a snowball fight! What fictional character would you love to have the snowball fight with?
Conner from The Land Of Stories by Chris Colfer!

The Hunger Games Movie Review!
Hi Guys!
If you saw my latest book review (The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins: ) You would know, that today I’m going to share my thoughts and opinions on The Hunger Games Movie!
Review:
I thought that this movie was a great adaptation from The Hunger Games book by Suzzane Collins.
I loved all of the actors/actresses who played a character in this film. They really stuck to the book and made all of the correct emotions from the book.
I actually saw part of the beginning of the movie before I read the book, that way I could visualize it with those characters, and I thought that was a smart thing for me to do!
Overall:
Overall, I really enjoyed this movie, and like the book I gave it 5/5 stars!
What were your opinions on the movie? Let me know down below!

NaNoWriMo 2014: Chapter 10
Today, I and David walk home again. I heard that the bakery was re-opened down the street and figure that it would be a good idea if we went. David’s a little bit mad at me as we did not make cookies on the weekend. It is Tuesday today, so I and David will have to be quick, as David has karate today, and my mother always makes sure that he’s at karate on time. My friend, Sienna, also has a brother that takes the same class as David, and is the same age as him, so we always sit with each other, or if our parents let us we go to the mall across the street. I met Sienna at my camp and I haven’t seen her in a while. I wonder what her DDK is?
“Where are we going? That’s are house Rachel!” says David. “Remember when you told me that you were upset because we couldn’t go to the bakery, and we didn’t make cookies?” I ask him. “Yes…” he tells me, suspitously. “Well, let’s go to the bakery now!” I surprise him! “Yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, yay, yay!” he repeats that about, a million more times, but that’s just an understatement! I’m so happy he’s happy, I and my brother have always been very, very close. When he’s upset, I’m upset. I guess you could say that we are tightly knit.
As we near the bakery, a police officer asks for our I.D. I show him, and he lets us through, the security here is on point, just like I thought it would be. I walk into the bakery, and I get in line. Ahead of us is our Neighbour James. I don’t really know him well, but my parents are friends with him. We once baby sat his dog when he was in Florida! He has a bull dog named lacy. She was always so sweet, but sadly past away a few months ago. Maybe he has another dog now.
Leah works at this bakery, and has for quite a while, so I make sure to hop into her line. When we get to her line, I say hi, and we begin to order. David goes first “Can I have a chocolate chip donut with sprinkles and a fruit juice?” asks David, very politely. “Sure thing.” says Leah. Next I order, “Can I please have a chocolate chip muffin with an Iced Cappuccino and six mini tid bit donuts?” I ask. My mom loves the tid bit donuts! There always amazing and so fresh! “Sure thing! That will be ten dollars please.” I hand her the ten and she takes it from my hand. “See you tomorrow Leah.” I say. “Bye, Bye Leah!” David says! “Bye guys, see you both tomorrow!” Normally, Leah will pay for us, or add in an item, but she didn’t seem to this time! Thank goodness!
When our order comes, I see that there are FOUR additional items, four cupcakes! This has Leah’s name written all over it! I take them, and as I go out the door, she winks at me. Typical Leah! She know me to well! There cupcakes are my favourite!
“I wonder what mom will say, when she’s all of these yummy goodies!” I tell David. “Mmmhmm” he says, while slurping on his fruit juice.
