5-Star Predictions: Fall 2019

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

Over the past few seasons, I have created some 5-star predictions for books that are either releasing in that season or I am planning to read in that season. Last season, I didn’t read many of my 5-star predictions, therefore I didn’t make a reflection post like I did in the Spring. However, I still plan on reading this months’ 5-star predictions, and hopefully they will live up to my expectations!

The first book I predict will be a 5-star prediction is DON’T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME by Mhairi McFarlane. I purchased this book a few months ago, since it was 40% off at Chapters Indigo a little while ago. While I haven’t heard many reviews of this book, the few thoughts I have heard have been excellent!

The second book I believe will be a 5-star prediction is AMERICAN ROYALS by Katharine McGee. This book sounds super sweet and unique, plus who wouldn’t want to read about a hypothetical royal family in America?! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for an ARC of this book!

The third book I believe will be 5-stars is THE BABYSITTERS COVEN by Kate Williams. This book sounds super interesting and unique, and when I initially heard about it, I thought I would love it! Hopefully it lives up to all of my hype! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

The fourth book I think will be 5-stars is SLAY by Brittney Morris. This book talks about a lot of important topics, from racism to females in technology. If you recognize this book, you’ve probably seen it from BookExpo/Book Con’s massive marketing campaign on it. I really hope I love this book! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC!

The last book I believe will be 5-stars is THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY by Alix E. Harrow. While I don’t usually read much adult fantasy, this one sounds very similar to TLOS (my FAVOURITE middle grade series!) as well as Seanan McGuire’s fantasy series (which I haven’t read, but plan to very soon).

Those are my Fall 2019 5-star predictions! Do you find any of these interesting? Let me know in the comments!

September 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

I have SOOOOOOO many ARCs to read in September, and I hope to get to as many of them as I can! Any ARC that I don’t get to this month will be added to my October TBR, so if you don’t see a review of one of the books I feature in this TBR, it will be added to my review list for next month!

The first book I plan on reading is DEAR HAITI, LOVE ALAINE by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite. This book is part first-person, and part letter/mixed media. At the HCC Frenzy presents event, we saw a video recorded by the two authors of this novel talking about their book. They seemed like the sweetest people ever, and the video made me more excited to read the book! Thanks to HCC Frenzy for the ARC!

The second book I plan to read this month is AMERICAN ROYALS by Katharine McGee. I don’t know much about this novel, other than the fact that it is about the (fictional) royal family of America. I have heard some great things about this novel, and am looking forward to reading it! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

The third book I plan to read this month is FRANKLY IN LOVE by David Yoon. As I have shared before, David Yoon is popular YA author Nicola Yoon’s husband. It’s so cool that they are both YA contemporary writers, and they are a married couple! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

I then plan to read THE BABYSITTERS COVEN by Kate Williams. I heard about this book at the very beginning of 2019, and have been anticipating it ever since! This book has been pitched as Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and if that doesn’t intrigue you, I don’t know what will?! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

The next book I plan to read is THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY by Alix E. Harrow. Even though I don’t usually read Adult fantasy novels, this one sounded super interesting and creative. Plus, how can you not be drawn to this gorgeous cover? Thanks to HBG Canada for the ARC!

After those, I plan on reading CHARLIE THORNE AND THE LAST EQUATION by Stuart Gibbs. This one sounded like nothing I have ever read before, but definitely like something I will enjoy! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC!

img_4237

The second-last book I hope to read this month is THE LIARS OF MARIPOSA ISLAND by Jennifer Mathieu. I read MOXIE earlier this year and loved it, and even though this one is very different than that, I still hope to enjoy it just as much! Thanks to Raincoast Books for the ARC!

The last book I plan on reading this month is SLAY by Brittney Morris. This book was getting a lot go hype at BEA/BookCon this year, especially since it has such an interesting and unique premise. I cannot wait to read this and hope to get to it by the end of this month! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC!

Those are all of the books I plan to read this September! How many books are you planning on reading?

August 2019 Wrap Up

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

I apologize for posting this wrap up so late. I have been super busy with getting ready to go back to school, so I have put all things bookish on the back burner. As a result of that, I only read two books this month, but I thought I’d share them with you regardless!

The first book I read this month was THE PERFECT WIFE by J.P. Delaney. I read this one at the very beginning of the month, and I really enjoyed it! You can read my full review here. Thanks to Penguin Random House Canada for the ARC!

The second book I read this month was WHEN YOU ASK ME WHERE I’M GOING by Jasmin Kaur. I received this ARC at the recent HCC Frenzy Presents event, where I got to meet and listen to Jasmin reading from her book. Plus, she signed and personalized it for me! I don’t want to give anything away, so stay tuned for my review in October! Thanks again to HCC Frenzy for the ARC!
