February Blog Series: February Flurries!

Hi everyone!

Back by popular demand, I’m doing another blog series for February (which I have kind of been hinting to)! It’s called February Flurries!

Before I explain to you how this is going to work, here are some FAQs:

Will I be doing a blog series every month?

No, I will not be doing one EVERY month, maybe every 2 months!

Why do you keep doing blog series?

First of all, when I did my Holiday Reading Series, my stats SKY ROCKETED! Second off, many of you liked knowing my posts for February, so you could come back the days that you wanted to read that specific post.

Will every blog series have a theme?

NaNoWriMo 2014: Chapter 12

As we near the karate studio, Sienna is waiting outside for me. Sienna is a smart and studious student who takes school very seriously, and is looked up to by many others. She is the head, and a full time kindergarten and daycare monitor and helper. She attends teacher, school council and student council meetings. She is the grade eight school president and has joined many clubs throughout her school. She goes to the school across from mine, so I don’t see her every day, just once a week, unless she is studying for a test.
As soon as she see’s me, she runs over and gives me a huge hug, just like she does every time I see her. “Hi Rachel! I’m so happy to see you! How are you? You look great!” she tells me, did I mention, she is a bit of a chatter box. “I am great, thanks! How are you? I haven’t seen you in so long!” I tell her. “I am good thanks!” she says.

I think it’s time to pop the question, and no we’re not getting married. “What is your DDK?” I ask her I wonder what she’ll say to me, I don’t think she’s one of the most outgoing people so she may not even tell me but it’s worth a shot. She tells me 90 years I say I got 95. “95, I wonder how special you must feel. Congratulations, being 95 means that you will have an amazing life. Same with 90 so I’m glad to share most of our lives together.” I say goodbye, for just a second as I walk into the class with David, I know I’ll see her later so she just wait for me at the bench. I always love seeing sienna because she’s not like most of the outgoing girls but she’s also so lovely and so I can talk to her so much and she won’t judge me or anything like that, she’s just a wonderful person.

As I walk into my brothers class, I get a glimpse of all of his friends. Most of them look pretty nice, and cute for four year old standards. A boy named Nathan walks over to me and gives me a big hug. I’ve never heard him talk, but he is adorable and by far my favourite.
I say goodbye to David and go over to my mom to ask her a question. I’ve thought about asking her this question before, but I really want to hear her answer. “Hi mom.” I say. “Hi sweetie.” She replies. “Can I ask you something?” I ask. “Sure, go right ahead.” She replies. This is it. “Mom, what is your DDK?” I ask. She looks at me, first with a stare, then with a smile. . “Do you really want to know?” she asks. “Yes.” I tell her. “I got 99 years.”

The Reader Problems Book Tag!

Hi everyone!

Today, I thought I would do a TAG, as I know most of you enjoy when I do them. If you want to check out my previous TAGS, you can check the “Book Tags” page on the bar above this post! Like every other TAG, I was not tagged by anyone, but I thought this would be fun to do!

Watch the original creator answer the questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SfhSV-L3eo!

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I decide what book I’m going to read by my mood and/or the season!

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

It really depends. If it’s a popular book like, Divergent, The Hunger Games, etc. then I would probably finish it because I assume that all of the hype is for something. If it’s just a random book that know one has heard of, then I’d probably drop it.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I’d probably try to finish it!

4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

This hasn’t really happened to me with covers, but it has with paperback and hardcover! Most of the time, I’ll put them on separate shelves. I’m not one of those people who will buy additional copies of the same book just for the covers. I think that is pretty stupid.

5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

Most of the time, my bookish/bloggy friends. To be honest, I really don’t care (turns on Demi Lovato’s song and has a dance party)! Sometimes, I question whether everyone is just following the “hype train” and likes the book just because everyone else does. And, that I’m the only one who actually has their own opinion!

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

Go to the bathroom. Although, I usually don’t cry over books!

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book?

Normally, I don’t forget, but in the special case that I do I will go on Wikipedia and read the whole plot. I’m not a huge fan of re-reading books that I’ve forgotten, especially because if I’ve forgotten it, it mostly means that I don’t like it.

8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

If they’re not at my house, I’ll say somebody borrowed it and is currently in list far place here. If they are at my house, I will just say that I am about to give it to somebody else.

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

I have a lot of books that are on my most anticipated reads of this year (read all about them here: https://readingreadingalldaylong.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/most-anticipated-books-of-2015/), for mostly each month, so I will try to wait until the one for that month comes out. Another way is to just find something that I will keep reading!

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

All of them…

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Since I can not wait to read them, I will try to get through them as quickly as I can!

NaNoWriMo 2014: Chapter 11

“Mom, were home!” I yell, while settling down all of our food. “Hi guys, sorry I couldn’t pick you up early, I was busy at work.” She tells us. Oh, right, she was supposed to pick us up early, oh well. “What did you buy?” she asks me. “Let’s see.” I tell her. “I bought a chocolate chip muffin and an iced cappuccino, I bought David a Chocolate chip donut and a fruit juice, I bought you six mini tid bits and, finally, Leah bought us each a cupcake, so four cupcakes.” I hope she’s not mad… “And how much did this happen to cost you?” she asks. “Ten dollars.”
“Well then, everyone dig in!” she yells! Fortunately, she is in a rather pleasant mood.
At about four thirty, my mothers calls us, to tell us to get ready for karate, and that we are living in ten minutes. Like always, I help David into his uniform and tie on his belt. He has an orange belt, which I think is pretty good for a four year old!
At four forty, my mother calls, and tells us its time to leave, I grab a science worksheet, that is due next week, and then we head out the door.
I’m aching to hear Sienna’s DDK. I wonder what she got.
On the way to the karate studio, we pass an unusual road sign. It talks about Derek Smool and how every scientist who is alive, should be hunted down and killed. Hopefully this isn’t true. I wonder why the government hasn’t requested to take down the sign. It just seems so weird to be put up in this neighbourhood. But I guess that request, most certainly, cannot not be made by me. Now that my father is a full time scientist, I take the news and signs like those, a little bit more seriously then I normally would. But I also have to remember, that those words are not aimed directly at me, just the scientist job population as a whole.
