September Wrap-Up, October Blog Info and BlueJays Congratulations!!

Hi everyone,

Today I have an exciting post! This would’ve gone up earlier, but my all time favourite Baseball team the Toronto Bluejays just clinched the AL East Series spot, and are the AL East Champions! Here are a few pictures of me going to a few games this year! I also have a post of my first bluejays game experience, which you can check out here.

Now for the bookish apart… I ACTUALLY READ THIS MONTH! If you weren’t already aware, I was in a reading slump for the entire summer, which was depressing. But with school back on, it gave me more encouragement to read. I managed to read 2 ARCs.

I recieved both of these books kindly from publishers.

I’m not going to tell you how I felt about them, because I will be posting reviews for both closer to when they release.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

INFO: Daily Blog Posts will be back for October! Most will be related to Halloween, because all of us book lovers love a good scary book!

Losing Reading Motivation

Hi everyone!

Sorry for the late post, tomorrow’s will probably be late as well due to busy-ness with school!

Today, I’m going to be talking about losing reading motivation. I feel like as book bloggers especially, people think that all we do is READ, and that we never go into reading slumps. But, the truth is that since we run blogs/work with books, like any job it can sometimes get a little bit boring to read. Especially when books now a days are similar to everything else you have read.

It can be hard to get your motivation to read back, and if anyone understands this its ME. I haven’t been able to finish a books since August, and that always happens to me! After reading the new The Land of Stories book that comes out in the middle of July every year, I tend to not read anything else during the summer. Even though I tried to participate in the 20 Book Summer, it wasn’t motivating me enough to read.

I believe that we all have to accept the fact that we are not going to read all the time! Sometimes, taking a break from reading motivates me to read more in the future months/rest of the year.

I’d love to continue this discussion down in the comments with you about losing your reading motivation, as well as tips as how you get back to reading regularly again.

Weekly Reading Plans {09/14/15}

Hi everyone!

Today, I’m going to be sharing with you my Weekly Reading Plans! I haven’t done one of these in a while solely because I haven’t been reading a ton, but I feel like this will motivate me to!

Since I haven’t been reading I have just chosen one book to read.

Raincoast Teen Preview Recap 2015!

Hi everyone!

Today, I’m going to be recapping the Raincoast Teen Preview I went to yesterday! It was so much fun to see the same people that I saw at Frenzy, as well as meet new bloggers!

The event took place in the Toronto Refferance Library! It was my first time there, and it was HUGE! I think it’s about 5 floors. I’ll have to go back soon! At 1:40, we were asked to meet at the elevators, and then at around 2:00 we were taken to the meeting room.

The main event was hosted in Vancouver, and it was live streamed to all of us here in Toronto!

We talked about several exciting books, as well as received a wonderful swag bag!

Here are a few of the books we chatted about:

  1. The Winners Kiss by Marie Rutkoski
  2. Gena/Finn by Hannah Moskowitz and Kat Helgeson
  3. No Love Allowed by Kate Evangelista
  4. This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamo
  5. Flawed by Cecilia Ahern

They also had some amazing snacks, such as my favourite Jolly Ranchers!

We then took a big group picture!

In every swag bag (which was HUGE and looked like this):

We received some bookish swag as well as 2 amazing ARE’s!

Β The first book I received was Flawed by Cecelia Ahern! This book sounds so interesting and I can’t wait to read it! It comes out in April 2016.

The second book I got was This is Where it Ends, by Marieke Nijkamp. This sounds AMAZING and I plan on reading it once I’m finished the book I’m currently reading! This book comes out in January 2016.

That’s it for the recap! I’d like to give a huge thank you to Melissa, Vanessa, Jenn and the rest of the team for hosting an awesome event! Also, thanks to my Mom for coming with me!

I hope that you guys enjoyed this recap!

Last Friday, I went to the library and some interesting things happened. I managed to tweet all of my thoughts on the situation, so I thought I would share them here, too!

Alyssa Searches Search Terms #2

Happy Labor Day!

This is a very important day for me… The last day of summer. I start school tomorrow! Who could believe it!

I thought that it would be fun to do a 2 Alyssa Searches Search Terms post, as a lot of you liked my first one!

Alyssa Searches Search Terms is a series where I will be going through my search terms (6 per post) used on my blog, and be reacting/responding to them. For a few, I may answer them correctly but for the others I will be kind of “sassy”. The search terms are not modified and are exactly as searched in the search box. This should be fun! Let’s get started!

in real life: my Journey to a pixelated world.

Nice usage of capitals here! This book was amazing, and you can check out my review, here!
