Alyssa’s Reviews – Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Hey guys!

Welcome to my review of Thirteen Reasons Why!
I finished this book last week and ADORED it!

Summary (Via Goodreads):
Clay Jensen returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers thirteen cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, his classmate and crush who committed suicide two weeks earlier.
On tape, Hannah explains that there are thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. Clay is one of them. If he listens, he’ll find out how he made the list.
Through Hannah and Clay’s dual narratives, debut author Jay Asher weaves an intricate and heartrending story of confusion and desperation that will deeply affect teen readers.

The plot and overall summary of this book was really intriguing to me. I then found out that a lot of book bloggers had read it and really enjoyed it, so I thought I would give it a go!
This book was even better then what people were saying! The overall writing style of this book was unlike anything I had ever read before!

I thought that Clay Jensen was an out standing character in this book. You could tell that he was very kind and didn’t want to hurt a sole.
Although, Hannah Baker was another story. I thought that Hannah said very silly and non-thought through things on her tapes. Hannah was interesting. I loved her stories and the way that Clay further explained them.

Overall Thoughts:
I absolutely adored this book and it’s guide lines. The writing style captured the essence of Jay Asher’s story. Rating: 5/5 stars!

That’s my review!

Friday Reads {08/15}

Sorry for not posting everyday this week! I tried to think about posts that are easy to write but I just got my braces on ad let’s just say they are very uncomfortable. Although, to make up for that I have a book review that is going up tomorrow, so look out for that!

This weekend, all I plan on reading is Entwined by Heather Dixon. Entwined, is a fairytale retelling of my all time favourite fairytale: The Twelve Dancing Princesses.

I will probably end up finishing this during the Bout of Books 11.0 readathon, which starts this Monday (August 18). I will be posting my TBR for this readathon on Sunday!

That’s it for today!

Good Night Book Worms!

This weeks topic: Top Ten Books, I’m Not Sure I Want To Read…

Listen, I read the first few chapters and liked it but it wasn’t really my thing. My mom is reading this now, so I’ll see how she likes it!

If you liked any of these books or think I should read them, tell me in the comments below!

Making Up for Monday {08/11}

What books would you recommend most?

Obviously, the books I would recommend are all from my all time favorite series, The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer. The books in this series are: The Land of Stories:A Wishing Spell; The Land of Stories:The Enchantress Returns; and The Land of Stories:A Grimm Warning. The fourth and final book in this series will be coming out sometime in Fall of 2015.

Friday Reads {08/8}

Hey guys!

Welcome to another Friday Reads, where I share with you the things I plan on reading on the weekend!

The only book I plan on reading this weekend is “Servants of the Storm” by Delilah S. Dawson. Thanks to Simon and Schuster for sending me this book to review! I’m so excited to read it!

Thats it for today!

Good Night Book Lions!

Third Sentence Thursday {07/8}

Hosted by:

(Take any book you are reading and flick to a random page. Share the third full sentence from that page with the blogosphere as a “taster” of the book! You can also share your thoughts about the sentence (does it affect the novel? did you like the language used? was it so short that it adds suspense?) It’s a fun, fast way to offer your readers a ‘snapshot’ of a particular book.)

“There is an uneasiness after your best friend tries to kill you.”-The School for Good and Evil: A World Without Princes by Soman Chainani.

Since this is the second book in the series I wanted to giveaway a sentance that wasn’t a big spoiler. Obviously since Sophie and Agatha were put into opposite schools then what they THOUGHT there personality’s match one of them was going to try and kill the other… So far this book is very good and once the third book comes out (in 2015) I will be sure to do a non-spoiler trilogy review!

Good Night Book Lions!

WWW Wednesdays {06/8}

Originally featured at Should Be Reading
 WWW Wednesdays is all about answering the following three questions:

  1. What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading “The School for Good and Evil: A World Without Princes” by Soman Chainani. This is the second book in TSFGE trilogy. I’m only a 3 pages into it so I don’t know my feelings on it yet. I read the second book back in May, and for the most-part I enjoyed it!

2. What did you recently finish reading?

The book I recently finished was Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher! I’m going to be posting a review for this book in a few days, so look out for that!

If you didn’t already know Thirteen Reasons Why is being made into a movie! Hannah Baker is going to be played as Emma Watson and I’m so happy about that! I just found this movie poster online!!!!

3. What do you think you’ll be reading next?

I believe I’m going to be reading my ARC copy of Servants of the Storm by Delilah S. Dawson. Thanks to Simon and Schuster for sending this to me! I owe them a review so badly so I hope I’ll get through this one quick!

I hope you guys enjoyed this weeks WWW Wednesday post! Answer the questions below so I can see what you’ve been reading!

Good Night Book Lions!
