Quick Thought #12: Borrowing Personal Books

Hi everybody!

Today, I’m going to be discussing a very “frisky” topic on the bookish blogosphere. And that is borrowing personal books.

I really am not a fan of sharing my books, or sharing in general. I guess I’m not used to it, as I am an only child. I only like to share books with my aunt, as she is part of my family and I trust her.

Here are a few guidelines that I like to establish:

  • NO cracking of spines
  • NO tearing out pages
  • NO sharing with other people
  • NO bending the pages or cover
  • If any damage is done to the book, please replace it

So that’s it for today’s post!

If any of you have any opinions for this topic, please share them in the comments. I’d love to have a discussion with you!

Swoon Worthy Saturday! {03/21}

Hi guys!

Before we start this post, I just wanted to say that I’m really sorry that I didn’t put this post up sooner! I was having some “technical difficulties”, but since you are reading this, they are all sorted out!

Today’s pick for Swoon Worthy Saturday is Four from the Divergent Trilogy!

I picked him an honor of Insurgent coming out!

Here are a few cool pictures of him that I found:

Quick Thought #11: Why it’s REALLY IMPORTANT That You Have an About or Contact Me Page on Your Blog!

Hi everyone!

Today, I’m going to be posting a Quick Thought, of an opinion that I formed last night.

Last night (actually 2 nights ago), I created a Bookish Collab Blog! You can visit it here, but it won’t be officially starting until April 6. If you want to join for The Bookish People 2.0 (starting in September), please check it out so you can sign up: https://thebookishpeople.wordpress.com/

Anyways, I was contacting a TON of people to see if they wanted to join for the 1 run, but a lot of my favourite blogs do not have an “About” or “Contact Me” page.

First of all, I totally understand why you don’t if you don’t feel comfortable with people contacting you, but in my opinion a MAJOR part of book blogging is getting books for review, and how can people send them to you if you cannot be reached? Just a side note, social media IS NOT considered contacting.

Second, I wanted to reach a lot more people then I did, but I could not because they did not have a contact form or email address associated to many blog’s, so I could not reach them! This made me very upset because I would’ve liked to hear from a lot more, but there was no chance I could have.

There are so many AMAZING opportunity’s that you may be missing because there is no way that others can contact you. And if you do have an “About” or “Contact Me” page, then you are doing something right, and that’s for sure!

And that my friend’s, is the end to my glorious rant. I hope that you learned something, or that this was useful to you!

See you tomorrow!

Quick Thought #10: TIBF CLOSING! :(

Hi everyone.

Today, I’m going to inform you of something SUPER SAD!

Last November, I attended the INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair, and as most of you know, it was such a blast! Read about my experience here: https://readingreadingalldaylong.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/hi/

Sadly, they have decided not to make a 2015 version. Here is what they are saying:

I’m so dissapointed, as I had so much fun.

Although, I am aware that there are many other Toronto Book Fairs, which I’m currently researching. Here is what I’ve found so far:

That’s it for today’s blog post! See you tomorrow with a more “uplifting” post!

Alyssa’s Reviews – Week Of Review: The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart

Hi everybody!

Welcome to the final book review in my Week Of Review’s Series!

Today, I’m going to be reviewing my second E. Lockhart book, The Boyfriend List!

Synopsis (Via Goodreads):

Ruby Oliver is 15 and has a shrink. She knows it’s unusual, but give her a break—she’s had a rough 10 days. In the past 10 days she:
lost her boyfriend (#13 on the list),
lost her best friend (Kim),
lost all her other friends (Nora, Cricket),
did something suspicious with a boy (#10),
did something advanced with a boy (#15),
had an argument with a boy (#14),
drank her first beer (someone handed it to her),
got caught by her mom (ag!),
had a panic attack (scary),
lost a lacrosse game (she’s the goalie),
failed a math test (she’ll make it up),
hurt Meghan’s feelings (even though they aren’t really friends),
became a social outcast (no one to sit with at lunch)
and had graffiti written about her in the girls’ bathroom (who knows what was in the boys’!?!).
But don’t worry—Ruby lives to tell the tale. And make more lists.

Review:

I actually bought these books (the first two) on a wim! I picked them up at my local library for 25 Cents a piece! I had read E. Lockharts “We Were Liars”, and I quite enjoyed them, so I figures why not?!

This book was SO AMAZING! I feel like I’m saying that in all of these book reviews, but I PROMISE I’m not lying! All of the books I’m reading are just so spectacular!

This book had me gripped to the end! It was a very quick read, a little bit more then 200 pages! And, I wanted to fit in a book before the month was over, so this was just perfect!

The concept of this book was so cute! I loved how real it felt, as she was going to therapy for panic attacks, and the reason may have been boys! It was just SO cute!

I also loved the main character, Ruby Oliver. She was so funny and cute! I really liked her from the beginning and thought that she was the sweetest, most innocent girl ever!

Overall:

I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK! I gave it 5/5 stars, for sure!

I hope that you guys enjoyed this book! Be sure to come back tomorrow for a (not-so) Surprise Giveaway!

Alyssa’s Reviews – Week of Reviews: Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Hi everyone!

Today, I’m going to be posting my book review on Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.

Synopsis (via GoodReads):

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris–until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all…including a serious girlfriend.
But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

Review:

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I’VE READ THIS YEAR. SERIOUSLY.

After I read this book, I had a huge grin on my face and was so happy. I gave it to my Mom to read once I was done, and she loved it as well.

I don’t know how people can not love this story.

The characters are amazing. Except Dave, oh how I hated Dave.

The setting was wonderful. PARIS PARIS PARIS PARIS.
While I was reading this book, it almost seemed like I was getting a miniature tour guide of Paris.

Overall:

I just loved this book and gave it 5/5 stars, I would gave it 10/5 stars if I could, it was just THAT GOOD.

That’s it for today’s review! I hope you guys liked it!
