September 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

I have SOOOOOOO many ARCs to read in September, and I hope to get to as many of them as I can! Any ARC that I don’t get to this month will be added to my October TBR, so if you don’t see a review of one of the books I feature in this TBR, it will be added to my review list for next month!

img_4223

The first book I plan on reading is DEAR HAITI, LOVE ALAINE by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite. This book is part first-person, and part letter/mixed media. At the HCC Frenzy presents event, we saw a video recorded by the two authors of this novel talking about their book. They seemed like the sweetest people ever, and the video made me more excited to read the book! Thanks to HCC Frenzy for the ARC!

img_4224

The second book I plan to read this month is AMERICAN ROYALS by Katharine McGee. I don’t know much about this novel, other than the fact that it is about the (fictional) royal family of America. I have heard some great things about this novel, and am looking forward to reading it! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_4227

The third book I plan to read this month is FRANKLY IN LOVE by David Yoon. As I have shared before, David Yoon is popular YA author Nicola Yoon’s husband. It’s so cool that they are both YA contemporary writers, and they are a married couple! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_4234

I then plan to read THE BABYSITTERS COVEN by Kate Williams. I heard about this book at the very beginning of 2019, and have been anticipating it ever since! This book has been pitched as Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and if that doesn’t intrigue you, I don’t know what will?! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_4233

The next book I plan to read is THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY by Alix E. Harrow. Even though I don’t usually read Adult fantasy novels, this one sounded super interesting and creative. Plus, how can you not be drawn to this gorgeous cover? Thanks to HBG Canada for the ARC!

img_4235

After those, I plan on reading CHARLIE THORNE AND THE LAST EQUATION by Stuart Gibbs. This one sounded like nothing I have ever read before, but definitely like something I will enjoy! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC!

img_4237

The second-last book I hope to read this month is THE LIARS OF MARIPOSA ISLAND by Jennifer Mathieu. I read MOXIE earlier this year and loved it, and even though this one is very different than that, I still hope to enjoy it just as much! Thanks to Raincoast Books for the ARC!

img_4238

The last book I plan on reading this month is SLAY by Brittney Morris. This book was getting a lot go hype at BEA/BookCon this year, especially since it has such an interesting and unique premise. I cannot wait to read this and hope to get to it by the end of this month! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for the ARC!

img_4240

Those are all of the books I plan to read this September! How many books are you planning on reading?

Good Night Book Owls!

August 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

I apologize for posting this months’ TBR so late, I haven’t had any time to write blog posts lately! This month, I will be participating in #ARCAugust hosted by @shellyzev on bookstagram (a fellow canadian blogger/bookstagrammer!). Basically, the main and only goal is to read and review as many fall ARCs as possible! I have a ton of ARCs to review for September, so I am obviously jumping in on this readathon!

img_3729

The first book I plan to read this month is SWIPE RIGHT FOR MURDER by Derek Milman. I am SO excited to read this new YA thriller! I have read quite a few YA thrillers this year, but have had a lot of mixed reviews for them. I have seen many fabulous reviews for this book in particular, so I am really looking forward to reading it! Thanks to HBG Canada for this ARC!

img_3723

The second book I plan to read is HIM by Clare Empson. This is an adult thriller that has been out in the UK since 2018, but will be released in Canada in just a few weeks! I haven’t heard much about this one, but the blurb is incredibly intriguing! Thanks to HBG Canada for this beautiful ARC!

img_3721

I then plan on reading LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE by Celeste Ng. I have had this book on my past three (?) TBRs, so I really really hope to get to it this month!

img_3728

The fourth book I hope to read is ANYA AND THE DRAGON by Sofiya Pasternack. I have had my eye on this book ever since Fernanda from Raincoast Books talked about it at the most recent TeensRead Feed event. I am SO happy to have an ARC in my possession, and definitely plan to read it this month! Thanks to Raincoast Canada for this ARC!

img_3725

Since I have several intense thrillers on this TBR, I have decided to include a cute contemporary ARC set to release in September – A MATCH MADE IN MEHENDI by Nandini Bajpai! I haven’t heard any hype about this one (yet!), but am really looking forward to reading this! Thanks to HBG Canada for the ARC!

img_3727

The next book I plan to read is FRANKLY IN LOVE by David Yoon. This is part of Penguin Teen’s must read books for the upcoming season, which makes me even more excited to read it! David Yoon is married to Nicola Yoon, an extremely popular YA author. It’s so cool how they are both becoming well-known authors in the world of YA! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_3730

The last book I hope to read this month is THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS OF JANUARY by Alix E. Harrow. This book has been gaining a lot of popularity recently, as the cover is beautiful and it’s being compared to Seanan McGuire’s fantasy series! I received an exclusive ARC from HBG Canada – thanks to them for sending it to me!

img_3719

Those are all of the books – mostly ARCs – that I plan to read this month! What are you planning to read in August?

Good Night Book Owls!

July 2019 TBR (& Exciting Summer Blog Plans!)

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

Summer is going to be a fantastic time on RRR, and I cannot wait for you to read all of my future books! This month, I am going to be introducing THREE different mini blog series that will be taking place throughout the summer. Let’s get to my TBR, and then I will share them with you!

img_3076

The first book I plan on reading this month is WE WALKED THE SKY by Lisa Felder. This one sounds super interesting to me, as it deals with parallel timelines and a circus! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_3079

After that, I plan on reading THE BEAUTY OF THE MOMENT by Tanaz Bhathena. I had the pleasure of meeting Tanaz at the Penguin Teen Social, and have been very excited to read her book ever since! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for providing me with a finished copy at the event!

img_3074

The new release I am most excited to read this month is WILDER GIRLS by Rory Power! I have heard fantastic things about this one, but am a bit worried about the massive hype this book has received over the past several months. I can’t wait to finally see if it lives up to my expectations! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_3080

I then hope to read THE ART OF LOSING by Lizzy Mason. I received this one at the Penguin Teen Social event as well, and am really excited to read it!

img_3082

Next, I hope to finally read Star-Crossed by Minnie Darke! I have been meaning to read this one for quite some time (I even gave one copy of it away on my Instagram), but haven’t heard the best things so I have pushed it back on my TBR. I hope to read this one in July and make some opinions on it for myself! Thanks to Penguin Random House Canada for the finished copy!

img_3083

The last book I hope to read this month is THE SILENT PATIENT by Alex Michaelides. I have read amazing reviews on this book, and hope it lives up to all of the hype!

img_3072

Those are all of the books I plan to read in July! Now let’s get to some summer blog series plans…

#LetsReadTO

Over the next two months, I will be visiting a lot of independent bookstores throughout Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and am going to be taking you with me! Behind The Bookstagram
Month of July, EVERY THURSDAY

Due to popular demand, I have decided to make a four-part mini-series on all things Bookstagram! I will be taking you through my photo and editing process, as well as my captions and favourite bookstagram accounts!

Month of August, EVERY WEDNESDAY

I have been really slacking on my book recommending, and hope to recommend a wide variety of books with this mini-series!

I hope you are excited for my summer blog plans! I have spent a lot of time on creating some amazing posts for you to read this summer, and hope that you will love them!

Good Night Book Owls!

June 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

While this post is titled “June 2019 TBR”, it really should be called “Alyssa’s Unrealistic TBR #1000000”! I have quite a few books that I plan on reading this month, and even though it is a few books short of the length of my past few TBRs, I have exams at the end of this month, and I’m not exactly sure how much I’ll be able to read. Regardless, I still plan on reading daily, and hope to use my free time wisely by reading whenever I can!

img_2548

HAPPILY AND MADLY by Alexis Bass is one of the only May ARCs that I didn’t get to last month, so I really want to read it as soon as possible and post my review within the next week. I have some high expectations for this book, and I hope it lives up to them! Thanks to Raincoast Books for sending me this ARC!

img_2546

The next book I hope to read this month is TEETH IN THE MIST by Dawn Kurtagich. Out of all of the books on my TBR this month, I feel like this one is the one that I won’t read. This is a YA horror novel, and I have to be in a really specific mood to thoroughly enjoy a horror novel. However, I have heard fantastic things about this book, so I do hope to get through it at some point this month. Thanks to HBG Canada for the ARC!

img_2542

I then hope to read THE GRIEF KEEPER by Alexandra Villasante. Can we take a moment to admire this beautiful cover?! It is truly breath-taking! This one sounds so interesting, and I am really looking forward to reading it. Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_2541

The next book I plan on reading this month is SCREEN QUEENS by Lori Goldstein. This book is my MOST ANTICIPATED book of 2019, and I am SOOOO excited to read it! I absolutely love books that are set around technology and tech competitions, so I am really looking forward to read this one! Thanks to Penguin Teen Canada for the ARC!

img_2547

THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT by Misa Sugiura was a book that I was really excited to read, but I have not heard very great things about it (even though the Goodreads reviews are fantastic), so I am interested to see what I will think about it. Thanks to HCC Frenzy for providing me with an ARC (this one is from Frenzy Presents!)!

img_2544

Next, I hope to read WE ARE THE PERFECT GIRL by Ariel Kaplan. This was the ARC I selected from the Penguin Teen Social ARC table, and I am quite excited to read it!

img_2545

The last book I plan on reading is STAR-CROSSED by Minnie Darke. I received two copies of this book from Penguin Random House Canada, and gave one away on my Instagram (make sure you are following it so you know about all of my giveaways!), and I have heard some spectacular things about this one!

img_2551

UNWRITTEN by Danny Knobler is my MLB Book Club June 2019 pick, and I plan on reading this one intermittently throughout the month!

img_2553

Those are all of the books I plan on reading for the month of June! How many books are you planning to read this month?!

Good Night Book Owls!

May 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

We are officially in my favourite month of the year! May brings Spring weather, continuous baseball games, and most noteworthy of all… my birthday (on May 27)! May also brings a lot of stress, as I am in the process of slowly finishing up another successful school year, and still need to complete a lot of assignments and preparation work before exams start in June. However, I still plan on managing my time well and reading a lot of fabulous May releases and backlist books!

As many of you know, TBR posts are kind of hilarious on my blog, as each of them seems to get more and more unrealistic. However, this month I am only focusing on reading ARCs, and this TBR isn’t as abnormal as the rest of them have been recently!

img_2029

The first book I plan to read is AMELIA WESTLAKE WAS NEVER HERE by Erin Gough. I am actually already more than 100 pages into this novel and really enjoying it, so I plan on completing this one within the next couple of days. Thanks to HBG Canada for the ARC!

40591953

The next book I plan on reading is IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD OF TRUE by Susan Kaplan Carlton! This book has been on my radar for a very long time, and I was kindly sent an eARC by Algonquin Young Readers. This book looks fantastic, and words cannot describe how excited I am to read it!

img_2041

The next book I plan on reading is NOCTURNA by Maya Motayne. I received this book at HCC Frenzy Presents, and it was described as a latin-inspired fantasy story! Since this book is over 450 pages long, I may read small chunks of this one while also reading other books throughout the month.

img_2027

I then hope to read GUILTY by Laura Elliot. This book is a domestic(?) physiological thriller, which is among one of my top three favourite kinds of books ever! While I haven’t heard anything about this book before, I am super excited to read it and find out what it’s really about! Thanks to HBG Canada for the ARC!

img_2031

Fairytale retellings were my favourite type of book to read when I was a pre-teen, but since then, I haven’t read any great ones! I hope to change that pattern with STEPSISTER by Jennifer Donnelly! This book is a Cinderella inspired retelling, which is obvious from the cover. I am ecstatic to read this one, and am so thankful to Scholastic Canada for sending me an ARC!

img_2026

The next book I plan on reading is THE SUSPECTS by Katharine Johnson. I have not been accepting practically any review requests, simply due to the fact that I don’t seem to have much time to read any books I own, let alone the ARCs I receive from publishers. Although, this book sounds like something I would love, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to read it! Thanks to Katharine Johnson for sending this book to me!

42288387

The next book I plan on reading is BRIGHT BURNING STARS by A.K. Small. When I found out that a new book was coming out about ballerinas, I immediately looked into it, as I used to be an avid dancer when I was younger. I was actually contacted to join in on the blog tour for this new release, and my review is scheduled for May 17, so check back then for my full review! Thanks to Algonquin Young Readers for the eARC!

img_2040

I then plan on reading LOVE FROM A TO Z by S.K. Ali. I recently won a copy of SAINTS AND MISFITS, which is S.K. Ali’s first book, but I have not gotten around to reading that one yet. I have heard great things about this one, and am so thankful to Simon & Schuster Canada for sending this ARC my way!

img_2034

Since May is my birthday month, isn’t it a great coincidence that BIRTHDAY by Meredith Russo is coming out just a few days before my birthday?! I have heard such fantastic things about this book, and am super excited to read it! Thanks to Raincoast Books for the ARC!

img_2033

The last book I plan to read this month is HAPPILY AND MADLY by Alexis Bass! I have spoken a lot about this book on my bookstagram, but still haven’t read it! The synopsis seems super interesting, so I am definitely very intrigued by it! Thanks to Raincoast Books for sending me an ARC!

img_2042

I LIED… sort of! Even though I mentioned that the previous book I just shared is the last book I plan to read for May, that is only half true. I am over 150 pages in to THE EVIL QUEEN by Gena Showalter, but only plan on reading another couple hundred pages throughout this month. Since this book is 500+ pages, I’ve been reading it in-between books/perodically, and since it comes out in the middle of June, I don’t expect to finish it in May (although that would be awesome!!). Thanks to HCC Frenzy for the ARC!

img_2024

And those are all of the books that I plan on reading in the month of May! I realize now that this in fact is another edition of “Alyssa’s VERY UN-REALISTIC TBR”, but that’s just the way it has to be this one! One day in the (very very far) future I will read ARCs earlier than the month they release… one day!

Good Night Book Owls!

April 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

We have finally reached the glorious month of April, which signifies all things spring and baseball. Even though I had a great March (both personally and reading wise), I am still very excited for April and all of the things that will happen this month! Since I  have been reading a lot lately, my TBR is not as ambitious as it seems. After all, I have had literally 10+ books on my TBR since the start of 2019, and while that doesn’t look like it will be changing any time soon, this TBR is just ten books that I believe I will be able to get through this month!

(Yes, I am aware that all of the books are on the left side of the picture. I was planning on adding fancy graphics on the right side of the picture, but unfortunately it didn’t work out.)

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

The first book I plan on reading this month is “There’s a Word For That” by Sloane Tanen. This book was kindly sent to me from Hachette Book Group Canada (read the haul where I hauled this here), and I am very excited to read it! I have been wanting to read more character driven novels, and I hope this will be one that I enjoy!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

The second book I will be reading this month is “Hamartia” by Raquel Rich. I kindly received this book from Raquel herself, and I owe her a full review! I am looking forward to reading her book this month, and hope to post my review very soon!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

The third book I plan on reading this month is “Love & Other Curses” by Michael Thomas Ford. I received this book from HCC Frenzy, and have heard some interesting things about it!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

I then plan on reading “Scythe” by Neal Shusterman. A few weeks ago, I found a few ARCs that I had not ever read, and this was one of them! This book is the Bookmarked pick of the month, and since one of my goals of 2019 was to participate in more readathons/read-a-longs, I thought this would be the perfect time to finally read it! Thanks for Simon & Schuster Canada for sending me an ARC (literally three years ago, though!)!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

From there, I hope to read “The Meaning of Birds” by Jaye Robin Brown. I have heard fantastic things about this novel, and I am so excited to read it! Plus, the cover is absolutely stunning! Thanks to HCC Frenzy for sending me an ARC!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Next, I plan on reading “You Must Not Miss” by Katrina Leno. Katrina Leno has written some other YA novels, but this will be my first time reading one of her books. This book has been on a lot of peoples’ “Most Anticipated Books of 2019” list, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint! Thanks to Hachette Book Group Canada for sending me an ARC!

42902280

I then plan on reading “Lucid” by Kristy Fairlamb. I received an eARC of this book from the author, and it looks really great! I will also be hosting a giveaway for this book, so stay tuned for that later this month!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

After that, I hope to read “The Unexpected Everything” by Morgan Matson. This was another ARC that I recently found, and I am now itching to read it! While I haven’t heard the best things about this book, I really want to read it before reading her latest novel “Save The Date”, which I pre-ordered a paperback of! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for sending me an ARC (in 2016… oops!)!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Since I have been loving thrillers over the past few months, I am going to pick up “One of Us is Lying” by Karen M. McManus. I read Karen’s newest thriller “Two Can Keep A Secret” when it released in February and I quite enjoyed it. However, I have heard that this one is much better, so I hope that I follow that opinion!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Lastly, I hope to end off April with a bang and finally read this behemoth of a book! I was sent a finished copy of “Black Leopard, Red Wolf” by Marlon James from Penguin Random House Canada back in February, but I could not seem to find time to devote to reading this book! However, I hope to find time near the end of April and smash through it!

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Those are all of the books that I hope to read this month! What are you planning on reading in April?!

Good Night Book Owls!

March 2019 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading (and another humongous monthly TBR post)!

I have been very happy with the first two months of 2019 when it comes to my reading, and I hope to get even more reading done this month! Since March has begun, that means that I can look forward to my March break stay-cation! I plan on reading a lot during my week off, and might do a separate TBR post highlighting my March break reads! That being said, I have A LOT of exciting books on my TBR list this month!

DISCLAIMER: This post contains affiliate links. If you buy something through these links, you won’t pay a penny more, but I will collect a small commission. Any books that I have received for free from publishers or authors, have been clearly identified when mentioned in the post.

img_1044

The first book I plan on reading is “This Team is Ruining My Life” by Steve “Dangle” Glynn. I am actually almost finished this book and am loving it so far! I consider myself to be a “Toronto-Sports Connoisseur”, even though my main sport forever will be baseball, and my main team will always be the Toronto Blue Jays. To be completely honest, I am not a huge hockey fan, but I absolutely love Steve Dangle and all of his videos. I was SO excited to receive an advanced finished copy from ECW Press to review, and I cannot wait to finish and review this one!

img_1046

The next book I plan on reading is another sports-related book, and it is “Hello Friends!” by the former voice of the Toronto Blue Jays, Jerry Howarth! Jerry Howarth is a Jays legend, and I am so excited to read this novel (plus, there are a ton of fantastic pictures within this book that I have already seen and loved). Thanks to ECW Press for the advanced finished copy!

img_1049

The third book I plan on reading is “Hamartia” by Raquel Rich. I received this novel from the author herself, and I am very excited to read it!!

35715518-2

The fourth book I hope to read this month is “Crown of Feathers” by Nicki Pau Preto. I have heard some great things about this book, and have been in the mood to read some fantasy, so I am really excited to read this one! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for an eARC via NetGalley!

img_1050

The next book I plan on reading is “The Hiding Place” by C.J. Tudor. When I showed this book in my latest “In My Mailbox” post, a lot of you mentioned that you were either reading or planning on reading this book. I am really intrigued by this story and hope to enjoy it as much as I expect to! Thanks to Penguin Random House Canada for an advanced finished copy!

34513785-2

I then plan on reading “Sky Without Stars” by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell. This is one of my most anticipated books of the year, and I am SOOOOO excited to read it! It is apparently a mash up of elements from “The Lunar Chronicles” and “Les Miserables” which are two of my favourite stories/series of all time. I really hope that this book lives up to my personal expectations! Thanks to Simon & Schuster Canada for an eARC via NetGalley!

img_1047

Next, I plan on reading “Once & Future” by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy. This is a female retelling of the story of King Arthur, which sounds super great! Thanks to Hachette Book Group Canada for the ARC!

img_1053

The second last book I plan on reading this month is “Wicked Saints” by Emily A. Duncan.  I am participating in the blog tour for this book, and my full review will be up on March 29! Thanks to Raincoast Canada for providing me with an ARC and inviting me to participate in the blog tour!

img_1041

The final book I hope to read this month is “The Hating Game” by Sally Thorne. I have heard spectacular things about this book, and I am really excited to read it! I can’t remember the last time I read an adult contemporary novel and I hope this one lives up to all of the hype! My mom is currently reading Sally Throne’s newest novel “99 Percent Mine”, and I will update you on her opinions when she is finished the book! I purchased these books together and posted a pretty Instagram picture of them, which you can view here!

img_1039

We have FINALLY reached the end of this TBR!!! I feel like each month my TBR gets longer, and longer, and longer! Thanks to all of the publishers mentioned above for all of the ARCs and finished copies I will be reading this month! I hope you enjoyed reading about my reading plans for this month! Are any of these books on your TBR for the month?

Good Night Book Owls!

February 2019 TBR

Hi everybody, welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

Happy February! I hope everybody had a great first month of January, even though the cold weather really presented itself to us this month (at least to me, in Toronto)! I had an absolutely jam-packed January, which included a trip to Las Vegas (technically this was in the end of December… oops!), finishing final projects and completing final exams. I just finished my last exam on Jan. 30 and it was a great feeling of relief to know that a new semester is finally here, and starts on Monday! I hope to post a lot more frequently this month, as I will be much less busy this month with school, among other things. Therefore, I have prepared quite an ambitious TBR for myself this month. Even though February only consists of 28 days, I have ten books on this list, so I assume I won’t be able to get to all of them this month. However, I will try my best to do so since I am looking forward to each book I plan on reading so much!

The first book/ARC I plan on reading this month is “The Black Coats” by Colleen Oakes. I had this on my TBR last month, and it was the only book on my TBR list that I didn’t get to. I received an ARC of this book in December, and am SO excited to start it! Look out for my full review later next week. This book releases on February 12, 2019.

The second book I plan on reading in February is “Two Can Keep a Secret” by Karen M. McManus. This is the Booksplosion BOTM Pick for February that was picked by Christine, Kat and Jesse. One of my 2019 bookish goals is to join in on more readathons and book club picks, and that is why I chose to read this book this month. I pre-ordered this book in December 2018, and was so excited when it arrived in January! I have not read “One of Us is Lying“, which was Karen M. McManus’ previous book, but I hope to do so if I enjoy her new release!

The next book I plan on reading this month is “The Dreamers” by Karen Thompson Walker. I cannot even attempt to explain how thrilled I was when I received a finished copy of this book in the mail from Penguin Random House Canada!!!!!!!! I am SO excited to read this book, and I predict that it will be a 5-star read!

img_0415

On January 21, Ashely at Falling Down The Book Hole announced that she along with a few other book bloggers (including myself!!) are running Fierce Female Reads February! Throughout the month of February, we encourage you to read books that include fierce female characters or were written by female authors! There will also be a readathon during Feb. 15 – 28, which is the perfect time to read some of your backlist fierce female books! We have chosen Moxie” by Jennifer Mathieu as our group read for the readathon portion of Fierce Female Reads February! I plan on posting a review for this book during one of my scheduled posting days, so I have decided to read this book in advance in order to have the book review written and posted on time. I am very excited to read this one, and have heard some great things about it! For more information on Fierce Female Reads February, click here! Make sure you are following the Fierce Female Reads twitter, so you can stay up to date on all of the Fierce Female Reads updates! There are also a few Instagram challenges and reading challenges, which you can read in the graphics below! Plus, there are a TON of amazing giveaways that will be going on throughout this month, so make sure you read the Female Reads announcement post to find out about all of them! My Fierce Female Reads February Readathon TBR will be posted on Feb. 15, so keep your eye out for it!

I recently purchased “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” by Taylor Jenkins Reid thanks to all of the PHENOMENAL reviews its been getting all over the book community! While books about celebrities are not really my ‘thing’, I am really looking forward to reading this book, and plan on reading it for the Fierce Female Reads February Readthon (and you will find out the rest of my picks for the readathon on Feb. 15)!

img_0359

The next book I plan on reading is “Once Upon A River” by Diane Setterfield. I received a finished copy of this book from Penguin Random House Canada. This book sounds super interesting and not like anything I have read recently. I am really looking forward to reading it, and cannot wait to see where this story takes me!

img_0365

The second ARC I plan on reading this month is “Rayne & Delilah’s Midnight Matinee” by Jeff Zentner. I requested an ARC of this book from Penguin Teen Canada after hearing the great things popular YA authors were saying about this novel. Plus, the cover is BEAUTIFUL! I am really looking forward to reading and reviewing this book! It comes out in stores on February 26, 2019.

img_0377

The next book I plan on reading is “The Suspect” by Fiona Barton. I received an unsolicited finished copy of this book from Penguin Random House Canada last month. I have heard interesting things about this book on social media, so I am definitely interested in reading it. This book is actually the third book in a series (I believe), and I will not be reading the first two books in this series since I have heard that you can read this book as a standalone and you will not really be missing anything. If I end up getting around to this book, I will be posting a full review on it near the end of the month!

img_0375

The last two books I plan on reading this month are the first and second books in the “Harry Potter” series. My biggest reading goal this year was to finally read and complete the Harry Potter series. I purchased the entire series with these beautiful covers, over four years ago, and I still have yet to read them! I plan on working my way through this series slowly, so if I don’t read both of these this month, I will definitely add them to my TBR for next month.

Those are all of the books I plan on reading this month (well… for the most part)! Are you planning on participating in Fierce Female Reads February and/or the Fierce Female Reads Readathon? Let me know in the comments, I would love to hear what you plan on reading!

January 2019 TBR

HAPPY NEW YEAR and Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

I am SO excited for 2019! Next year I am going to have a lot of inevitable personal changes, so I’m going to try and make this year as relaxing and fun as I possibly can. While I am not going to share my reading goals with you in this post (they will be shared in a few days), I am very happy with my picks for my TBR list this month, as I am looking forward to reading every single one of them!

This month, my TBR is compiled of six books. Three ARCs, one RC/FC (Readers Copy – not advanced, FC – finished copy), and two picks of my choice (one of those picks is an eBook). While I receive a lot of books from different publishing houses, I always make sure to include one book that I am really interested in and want to read at some point during this month.

The first book I plan on reading this month is “The Field Guide to the North American Teenager” by Ben Philippe. I was given an ARC of this book from Harper Collins Canada (a.k.a. HCC Frenzy) and am really looking forward to starting it! Lately, I have been reading a lot of heavy adult thrillers, so I am looking forward to a nice, light, and interesting teenage contemporary. Ben’s writing style in this book has been compared to John Green’s, whom is one of my favourite authors, which made me even more eager to start this novel! This book comes out on January 8, but my review should be up sometime next week.

The next book I plan on reading this month is “A Ladder to the Sky” by John Boyne. John wrote the best selling “The Boy In The Striped Pajamas” which I read in sixth grade and absolutely adored. When I found out that he was writing another book, I knew I needed to pick it up. Fortunately, the lovely people at Penguin Random House sent me a copy of it last month to review (and a hard copy copy, at that!). Since the book has already been published (and is receiving AMAZING ratings), I really wanted to get to it this month so that I can post my review ASAP. To say I am excited to read this book is an understatement.

The third book I plan on reading this month is “Behind Closed Doors” by B.A. Paris. I have heard a ton of opinions on this book, and I am interested to see what my overall opinion on this novel will be. People on the blogosphere and booktube seem to love it, while people in my personal life haven’t liked it as much as I was expecting. Like I have said a lot recently, my favourite genre has currently been domestic thrillers, and this one is a very very popular one that I think will be a book that I will really enjoy. I guess we shall find out by the end of the month!

The next book I want to read this month is “Golden State” by Ben H. Winters. I received an ARC of this book from Hachette Book Group Canada (along with a few other Winter ARCs) just this past weekend. After reading the synopsis, I thought that this book seemed very similar to 1984, which I have been reading with my English Lit class book club group. I have been enjoying it quite a bit, so I thought I would also enjoy this book as well. Like “A Ladder to the Sky”, this book has been getting stellar reviews on Goodreads, so I hope it lives up to the hype! This book comes out on January 22, so my book review will be up then.
P.S. Book Of The Month just released their January 2019 picks, and this book “Golden State” on the list!

The fifth book I plan on reading this month is “The Black Coats” by Colleen Oakes. While this book does not come out until the middle of February, I figured that it would be smart to start this one early. Especially since this book sounds like something I would enjoy this month! I received an ARC from HCC Frenzy, and am really looking forward to reading it!

The last book I plan on reading is “The Wife Between Us” by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I purchased this one on the Kindle App and was planning on reading it during my winter break/winter vacation. While I did not read it during my actual vacation, I still have a few days off before I go back to school, so I may read this one very soon. If not, I am not exactly sure when I will have time to read it. Among all of the books on this list, I think I am the most excited to read this one! I have heard nothing but great things about this book, and it’s another domestic thriller… which, by now, you should all know I absolutely love!

Those are the six books I plan on reading this month! What are you guys planning on reading this month? Let me know in the comments or send me a link to your post/picture, I’d love to find out! I will be posting all of my 2019 bookish goals on Friday, and I am so excited to share them all with you!!

December 2018 TBR

Welcome back to Reading, Reading, Reading!

It is finally December! Does anybody else feel like this year has gone by pretty slowly? Most of the time I feel like the years go by quickly, but this one felt abnormally slow. Any who… December is the month of snow (yuck) and holidays (yay)! I will have a lot of exciting holiday posts for both Christmas, Hanukkah, and whatever else you may celebrate up very soon (including a YA/Bookish Gift Guide next weekend!).

I plan on reading quite a few books this month. If you read yesterdays blog post (November Wrap-Up), you will know that I sadly only read just about 1 and 3/4 books. Since I have quite a bit of reading time during the later end of this month, I have a set list of books that I hope to read and review for either this month or the beginning of next month. Fortunately, I am sent quite a few books from publishing houses every few months, and this month/the very end of November, I received a TON of Winter 2019/Spring 2019 ARCs (I will have a new “In My Mailbox” post up very soon) that I have to read as soon as possible, so I’m hoping to get through most of them this month.

The first three books I plan on reading are the “Shades of Magic” series by V.E. Schwab! I am more than half way thru “A Darker Shade of Magic” and I am really enjoying it so far. I recently purchased the entire box set from Indigo, which I posted an Instagram picture of last week. I plan on binging this series throughout the next week or two (however long it’ll take me to finish), and posting a full series review on my blog when I am finished it. I have heard an abundance of hype for this series, so I hope it lives up to it!

The next book I plan on reading is “The Catcher In The Rye” by J.D. Salinger. Like 1984, I will be reading this with a group for my English Lit class and I am SO excited to finally read this book. I bought it off of Book Outlet a few months ago and have been meaning to read it for a while. When I found out that we were reading this for my class, I could not contain my excitement!

A first weeks ago I requested “Watching You” by Lisa Jewell on NetGalley, and I got approved for it earlier last week! I have been super into Adult Thrillers lately and I have yet to read a Lisa Jewell book. This one sounds like something I would love, so I am so thankful that NetGalley accepted me for this e-ARC!

The last book I plan on reading this month is another eARC from Simon & Schuster Canada via NetGalley. It is titled  “The Remarkable Inventions of Walter Martinson” and was written by Quinn Sosna-Spear. I requested this book a while ago, so I was so thankful to get an eARC of it! I believe this book falls in-between the Middle Grade and Young Adult sections, but I think it’s leaning towards more of a Middle Grade. Regardless, the premise of it sounds like so much fun and a great kind of book to read before the new year! The cover is also so interesting and makes the book that much more appealing.

Those are the books I plan on reading this December to end off the year! I am actually going to make another post with my Winter Break reading plans, because by then I will have all of my recent book gifts/ARCs/packages/orders (LOL), so I will have a bit more to chose from and to share for my two and a half weeks of winter break reading!

What are you guys planning on reading this month? Did you post a December TBR? Let me know in the comments, I love chatting with all of you! Make sure to check out my Instagram and Twitter, since I have been really active on both of them recently!
