Alyssa’s Reviews – Galgorithm by Aaron Karo (ARC)

Hi everyone!

Today, I’m going to be sharing with you my thoughts and review on Galgorithm by Aaron Karo! I was sent a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Simon and Schuster Canada. That does not affect my opinion.

Summary (Goodreads):

A romantic comedy about high school, heartbreak, and having all the answers.

What if the secrets of dating and love were revealed in one simple formula? That is the tantalizing proposition high school senior Shane Chambliss offers the hopeless and hapless guys who come to him for relationship advice. After the girl of his dreams breaks his heart, Shane devises a mysterious formula called the Galgorithm and establishes himself as the resident dating guru at Kingsview High School. But his attempts to master the art of romance go outrageously awry. As Shane tries to navigate the ensuing drama, he must follow his heart, abandon all the rules, and ignore his own advice in a quest for true love. What he discovers, no formula could ever predict…

Review:

I LOVED THIS BOOK! This is probably one of the best books I’ve read this year!

Shane is such a wonderful and caring character. I felt that he was really relatable to all YA teens and adults. He has a lot of charisma and charm. I felt that he was very loving to all characters in the school, especially his teachers.

Jak was a very fun loving person throughout this book, and I felt while reading this that I was friends with her and actually knew her as a person.

I actually did a school project thing on this book, so I thought that I would share it with you NOW: SPOILER BELOW WARNING

The book Galgorithm by Aaron Karo, has a very consistent theme throughout the entire novel. This novel shows that even the best of the best, may need to listen to their own advice throughout their daily life. In Galgorithm, we meet Shane, a Senior in High School who just went through a breakup. With all of the things he believed that he did wrong in his past relationship, he compiles a “curriculum” that he uses to teach others the techniques they need to get the girls of their dreams. Although, what Shane doesn’t know is that sooner or later he will need to take his own advice. When his theories get exposed to the entire school, he soon loses all of his clients, and his best friend, Jak. He tells Jak everything, and she didn’t know about one of the things that he did after school that was very important in his life, until now. Now, Shane has lost his very best friend and all of his clients. Later in the novel, Shane realizes that he has feelings for his best friend, but has lost her in the result of his exposition. With the help of Shane’s very own advice, he has to get back his best friend, who has now become the girl of his dreams. As the result of following his own advice, Shane ends up with his best friend, and gathers the respect of his fellow classmates.. This shows that if you follow your own advice, you will truly find your way.

Overall:

I really loved this book and gave it 5/5 stars!

Alyssa’s Life: My Birthday!

Hi everyone!

As most of you know, yesterday was my birthday! Many of you wanted to see another Alyssa’s Life post, so I thought that it would be fun to make one for my birthday!

When I arrived at school, I found this on my locker…!

My friends decorated my locker for my birthday, and it was so cute! And yes… I’m only 13!

After school, I went over to starbucks to redeem my birthday reward! My favourite drink from starbucks is the “Cotton Candy” frappuccino, so I treated myself to a large one!

My parents and I than went over to my Aunts house to pick up my birthday gift! She, my uncle and cousins generously bought me a Kate Spade clutch, and inside they put in a $25 Indigo Giftcard, and a $15 starbucks card! My 2 favourite things!

At around 6:00, we went to The Pickle Barrel, and I had a Corn-Beef Sandwich with Yukon Gold Fries! I always get that there!
