Currently Reading: Hit by Delilah S. Dawson!

Hey guys,

Today I’m going to be sharing with you a book that I am currently reading, and really enjoying!

SIDE NOTE: I’m sorry if this weeks blog posts haven’t been up to par. I have had quite a few exams/tests to study for, as today is actually my first day of Spring/March Break! Get ready for some really exciting and LONG posts this week!

Anyways, let’s get started!

I am currently reading Hit by Delilah S. Dawson, which I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC for from Simon and Schuster Canada! I wanted to read Servants of The Storm by Deliah S. Dawson, but everytime I tried to pick it up, it just never really caught my attention.

But, this book so far is AMAZING! I just started tonight and am a little bit more then half way through, which means that I will be able to finish it tomorrow! YAY! I don’t want to giveaway all of my feelings, so that I have something to put in my review!

Quick Thought #9: How Books Made Me a Better Person

Today’s post was originally going to be My Reading Routine, but today was a suprisingly busy day, so look out for My Reading Routine in the upcoming weeks!

Back to today’s post. I’m going to share with you reason’s as to why books made me a better person.

In the past few years, I have been exposed to many YA books, and this has exposed me to many unique story! This has given me a new perspective of the world in many ways. It has shown me that there is more to life then technology, food, games, etc. I have been able to discuss myself and be more open about my opinions on my blog, which I really enjoy! I love being able to try to strive for a goal of reading as many books as I can in just 365 days! I feel like books have exposed me to such a wonderful community, and opportunity to share my thoughts with you guys!

1. If you could bring one character from a book to life who would it be and why??
It would definitley be Alex from The Land Of Stories. I feel like we are so alike!
2. What came first the chicken or the egg?
The egg, how would the chicken have been made?
3. If time travel was real where would you go? Who would you see/meet?
I would want to see my Mom’s Dad, AKA my Grandpa, as I’m sure he was an amazing guy, and that I would’ve loved him. In that time, My Grandmother’s mom would still be alive, and I really would have wanted to meet her as well. I was actually named after her!
4. Optimistic  or pessimist??
I am definitley Optimistic, and always anticipate the future. ALWAYS in a good way!
5. Would you rather tattoo ever part of your body or have a small really inappropriate tattoo on your face (you can choose where) ?
SMALL TATTOO, behind my ear. I despise tattoo’s and will NEVER get one in my life. But, don’t be offended if you have a tattoo please!

Alyssa’s Reviews – Week Of Review: The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart

Hi everybody!

Welcome to the final book review in my Week Of Review’s Series!

Today, I’m going to be reviewing my second E. Lockhart book, The Boyfriend List!

Synopsis (Via Goodreads):

Ruby Oliver is 15 and has a shrink. She knows it’s unusual, but give her a break—she’s had a rough 10 days. In the past 10 days she:
lost her boyfriend (#13 on the list),
lost her best friend (Kim),
lost all her other friends (Nora, Cricket),
did something suspicious with a boy (#10),
did something advanced with a boy (#15),
had an argument with a boy (#14),
drank her first beer (someone handed it to her),
got caught by her mom (ag!),
had a panic attack (scary),
lost a lacrosse game (she’s the goalie),
failed a math test (she’ll make it up),
hurt Meghan’s feelings (even though they aren’t really friends),became a social outcast (no one to sit with at lunch)
and had graffiti written about her in the girls’ bathroom (who knows what was in the boys’!?!).
But don’t worry—Ruby lives to tell the tale. And make more lists.

Review:

I actually bought these books (the first two) on a wim! I picked them up at my local library for 25 Cents a piece! I had read E. Lockharts “We Were Liars”, and I quite enjoyed them, so I figures why not?!

This book was SO AMAZING! I feel like I’m saying that in all of these book reviews, but I PROMISE I’m not lying! All of the books I’m reading are just so spectacular!

This book had me gripped to the end! It was a very quick read, a little bit more then 200 pages! And, I wanted to fit in a book before the month was over, so this was just perfect!

The concept of this book was so cute! I loved how real it felt, as she was going to therapy for panic attacks, and the reason may have been boys! It was just SO cute!

I also loved the main character, Ruby Oliver. She was so funny and cute! I really liked her from the beginning and thought that she was the sweetest, most innocent girl ever!

Overall:

I REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK! I gave it 5/5 stars, for sure!

Today, I’m going to be posting my book review on Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

Review:

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING. PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I’VE READ THIS YEAR. SERIOUSLY.

After I read this book, I had a huge grin on my face and was so happy. I gave it to my Mom to read once I was done, and she loved it as well.

I don’t know how people can not love this story.

The characters are amazing. Except Dave, oh how I hated Dave.

The setting was wonderful. PARIS PARIS PARIS PARIS.
While I was reading this book, it almost seemed like I was getting a miniature tour guide of Paris.

Overall:

I just loved this book and gave it 5/5 stars, I would gave it 10/5 stars if I could, it was just THAT GOOD.

Today, I’m going to be reviewing a short story that is called Zoo Orchestra by Manuel Diaz!

DISCLAIMER: I received this book via Netgalley, for an honest review. No opinions were persuaded for that reason.

Don’t forget the gentle koala, whose rich-sounding viola is an important addition to every orchestra.

Review:

This book was really cute!

I finished this book in one sitting, and I really liked it! It’s superb, for what it is.

The illustrations are amazing, and I really thought that they added a wonderful touch to the story! They were very detailed and I enjoyed them very much.

The story was nothing special, but it was very enjoyable. The aspect of how each animal plays an instrument was very cute!

Overall:

Overall, this book was really cute, and I gave it 4/5 stars! I recommend it!

Today, I’m going to be doing a review for Real Justice: Sentanced To Life at Seventeen: The Story of David Milgaard by Cynthia F.

Synopsis:

David Milgaard was a troubled kid, and he got into lots of trouble. Unfortunately, that made it easy for the Saskatoon police to brand him as a murderer. At seventeen, David Milgaard was arrested, jailed, and convicted for the rape and murder of a young nursing assistant, Gail Miller. He was sent to adult prison for life.
Throughout his twenty-three years in prison, David maintained that he was innocent and refused to admit to the crime, even though it meant he was never granted parole. Finally, through the incredible determination of his mother and new lawyers who believed in him, David was released and proven not guilty. Astonishingly, in hindsight the real murderer was obvious from the start.
This is the true story of how bad decisions, tunnel vision, poor representation, and outright lying and coercion by those within the justice system caused a tragic miscarriage of justice. It also shows that wrongs can be righted and amends made.

Review:

This book is a little bit less then 100 pages, and like my other reviews, I finished this book in one sitting!

It was quite good, but the story line was very heavy. It’s hard thinking that somebody did something so wrong/bad, and the person who committed the crime wasn’t even held accountable! It shows how sometimes reality does SUCK, although I’m normally a more positive person.

This book was gripping and hard to put down at ALL moments. If you don’t like books that involve harder topics, I don’t think this book is for you. I really like books that involve “bad” topics, I know, I know, very strange, right? Darker topics aren’t for everyone, but they seem to be making them, so people must read them other then me!

Overall:

I really loved this book! I gave it a 5/5 stars!
